The RomantiX played at The Poacher & Partridge in Tudeley near Tonbridge, Kent. Lining up with Neil on vocals/guitar, Dave Freind on lead guitar, Van Greg on synthesiser, Geoff Trickey on bass and Ivor Sewsanker on drums. Our slot was 5pm-7pm and it was very hot. We played in a large marquee without sides, which kept the sun off and provided a gusting breeze – much to the detriment of Van Greg’s music notes which blew away like autumn leaves!
England were playing Norway in the World Cup Quarter-Final at 10pm, so we had an England football theme, Neil in his 1980s England shirt and Ivor set up England flags with help from his son Lukas.
We had an enjoyable gig with a few challenges, posed mainly from the strong breeze, but we managed to resolve them and the crowd enjoyed it.
We debuted three new songs: Peter Gunn, Enola Gay and Living on the Ceiling and we were pleased with our performances and feedback given for them.
